Dual Turn Windows
Dual turn windows are designed to replicate the fenestration of traditional sliding sash windows whilst, at the same time, being able to meet the demands performance levels expected today.
The wide range of sizes, glazing and glazing bar specification and finishes that are available means that, no matter what your requirements, our Dual Turn Window will meet them.

Construction of Dual Turn Windows
Our Dual Turn windows can be made from high quality redwood or high quality hardwood, the choice is yours.
Sections are used which are as close as possible to those of the traditional sliding sash, our standard finished sizes being:
- Frame Head: 140 x 68 mm
- Frame Sole: 140 x 68 mm
- Frame Jambs: 140 x 68 mm
- Sash Heads: 68 x 56 mm
- Sash Sole: 68 x 56 mm
- Sash Stiles: 68 x 56 mm
Glazing
The Standard double glazing unit is 22 mm (4/14/4) featuring ' Low E Glass and using a drained and vented system to ensure excellent thermal and sound insulation.
Specialist units, for additional insulation and security, are available upon request.
Timer beads are used all round the further enhance the traditional appearance. The beading is fixed using a high performance fixing system to enhance product integrity and appearance.
In addition, security glazing tapes can, if required be fitted to internal upstands, making it virtually impossible to remove the glazing units from the outside.
A range of glazing bars and astragals are also available on request.
Performance
Our Dual Turn windows have been tested independently and approved to BS 6375 Part I.
The following ratings were achieved:
- Air Permeability: 600Pa
- Water Tightness: 300Pa
- Wind Resistance: 2,400Pa
All our Dual Turn windows are treated with preservative after all machining. this is applied by means od a double vacuum process in accordance with BC5589: 1989 or BS8417 :2003 and NHBC recommendations. Such treatment enables us to offer a 30 year warranty against rot or fungal decay. the coatings used as standard are water based in accordance with the company's environmental policy.
Ironmongery
Each sash is hung on fully concealed top hung reversible hinges incorporating opening restrictors and anti - blow back device.
The sashes operate totally independently of each other allowing maximum flexibility of use to the end user.
Both sashes are fitted with a pair of top quality locking fastners as standard in a choice of colours.
Ventilators
Ventilators are fitted within the frame head to ensure the clean lines and traditional appearance of the windows are not lost through the presence of modern external vent hoods.
They comply with current building regulations: Dept. of Environmental & Welsh Office, Building RK regulations Approved Document F4 1995 Edition and Scottish Executive Technical Standards, Part Amended December 1999
Fire Escape & Access
On Certain sizes, the replacement of the bottom sash with a side hung, inward opening sash allows our dual turn window to be used for either fire escape or access purposes in compliance with current regulations : Dept. of Environment & Welsh Office - Means of Escape from fire, facilities for fire fighters and means of warning of fire in dwellings, Part B and Scottish Executive Technical Standards - Means of Escape from fire, facilities for fire fighters and means of warning of fire in dwellings, Part E Amended December 1999.
