We are now half way through our appointment to refurbish and replace more than 100 windows at Birtley East Primary School, Chester-Le-Street. This is the third educational refurbishment project on behalf of Gateshead Council, having already completed improvement contracts at Marley Hill and Kells Lane schools.
Birtley East Primary school is in an area of designated local historic interest which calls upon our expertise in modernising existing windows for energy efficiency, comfort and usability, while remaining true to the original building design and heritage. Of course, working in a school involves other challenges for our commercial team, including flexibility in working out of hours and during holidays where required, but also in keeping the site safe while working during term times when the pupils are present.
The scope of our works at Birtley includes the renovation of original vertical sliding sashes to get them operating again effectively; manufacturing new double glazed sashes for 34 originally single glazed casement windows and then refitting the units into the frames; refurbishing a further 60 windows by removing single glazed pivot sashes, manufacturing new double glazed sashes, hinged casements and fixed sashes and installing them into the refurbishments boxes – all new factory finished and decorated. The works also include secondary glazing to maintain the historic windows but improve thermal efficiency, comfort levels and noise attenuation.
Our award winning indoor facility showcases the entire range of products. You can browse at your leisure and see for yourself the quality of construction and finish available on our wood windows and doors.
