A 16th century defensive dwelling tower, the Pele Tower in Cockle Park, Morpeth was converted into two dwellings in the 18th Century, and then later was acquired by Newcastle University for accommodation for its Agricultural research students.
An interesting piece of architecture, the tower has circular bartizans at its northeast and northwest corners, a machicolated parapet, and south windows in Gothic surrounds. Working closely with contractors MGM Construction Services Ltd, our brief was to renovate and decorate the 11 existing windows and where this was not possible, to replace them with new bespoke matching windows. Due for completion in July, this was another example of a project where ERW’s conservation consultancy really helped create the right product for the client.
Our award winning indoor facility showcases the entire range of products. You can browse at your leisure and see for yourself the quality of construction and finish available on our wood windows and doors.
