Job Title: Marketing and Administration Assistant
What is your job?: My job is to assist the Marketing Manager Helen Wood in all aspects of Marketing for the business. At the moment my main area of concentration is Social Media Marketing and I work daily on our Facebook and Twitter Pages. I also write Case Studies, Trade Blogs and News Articles for the Website. As a part of my Administration Role I help everybody with the day to day running of the office. I am also the point of call for answering the phone and make up contracts and file documents.
How long have you worked for ERW? I started working at ERW in October 2015 so I’m the new person around the office.
How would you describe working at ERW? It’s honestly brilliant. When I started everyone had been working together for many years and I didn’t know what to expect but they have been great. They are so friendly and welcoming and I love the job that I do.
What is your favourite part of the job? My colleagues. I work with a great bunch of people that make the atmosphere really relaxed and easy to work in. Everyone is available to help other people and I never feel out of place asking for help.
What have you worked on recently that you’re proud of? My Social Media Marketing Campaign. I have been working daily to post Domestic and Commercial case studies to Facebook to show our potential clients that kind of work we can do. Every Friday I post pictures from inside the factory on Facebook and Twitter and on Tuesday I post Timber Trivia under the hashtag #TimberTuesday. Doing the monthly Meet The Team posts was also my idea and I’m really happy with the response we have been getting.
What do you look forward to doing at work each day? I love learning new things. Almost every day when I come to work I learn something new whether it’s to do with making Windows and Doors, how to edit pictures for the website or how to auto sum in an Excel Spreadsheet.
What is the most important thing you have learnt working here? To prioritise. As I am an Admin Assistant I can be given multiple jobs by different people on top of my normal duties and for the first couple of months I was trying so hard to complete the tasks for them that my own work was slipping. I’ve learnt to prioritise my work now so that when people ask me to do jobs I either work on them when my own jobs are finished, or advise them to ask someone else if it is important and I am too busy to do it immediately.
If your co-workers could describe you using three words what would they be and why? Bubbly, helpful & approachable. I always try to have a smile on my face and make people happy. I usually have a lot of energy and channel that into my relationship with my colleagues and the work that I do. I always aim to help people whenever I can and go out of my way to help people with their work if they ask.
What do you like to do to relax when you aren’t hard at work? Reading is one of my favourite things to do to relax. I feel like there’s nothing better than getting lost in a good book and I am currently reading the Game of Thrones series alongside watching the TV Show. Me and my partner have recently got Netflix and we love watching American Horror Story and Once Upon a Time on a night but if I had to chose a favourite show it would be Criminal Minds. I love Crime Shows and Criminal Minds is just brilliant, the team is amazing and I love watching it every week.
