Job Title: Customer Service Supervisor
What is your job: I have a varied role within the business with customers always being the main focus. From being a first point of contact both on the telephone and in the showroom, to booking installations and helping things go as smoothly as possible from the start of a job to the end and even after.
How long have you worked for ERW: I have been working for ERW for 5 ½ years now. I came here as an apprentice when I was 18 and I have been here ever since, continuing to grow and gain more responsibility as the business grows.
How would you describe working at ERW: We are a small group who get along well together and between us we make the working day more interesting. There hasn’t ever been a day when I haven’t wanted to come to work, which is something that I don’t think a lot of people could say about their jobs.
What is your favourite part of the job: My favourite part of the job is when I get customers ringing up to say how pleased they are with the work that we have done for them, and also when they compliment the installers who have worked on their properties. People are quick to complain when something goes wrong, but not so quick to give praise when something goes well. For them to make the effort and tell us when we have done a job well makes it all worthwhile.
What have you worked on recently that you’re proud of: Lately I have been working on some price reviews from our timber suppliers and so far I have managed to get us a cost saving of on average 3.75% which is great for something that we buy so frequently. I am looking to further this more and hopefully get the average saving to 8.99%
What do you look forward to doing at work each day: I have such a varied role that no two days are the same! The things that I enjoy doing the most include planning the installation diary and cross referencing it against the production plan to make sure that there are no conflicts and interacting with new and existing customers, providing them with the high standard of customer care and satisfaction that is expected from our business.
What is the most important thing that you have learnt working here: That understanding your colleagues and the way in which they work is crucial to being able to work seamlessly together. This is something that we have started doing only recently, but it has already made a huge difference to the way in which we all work with each other.
If your co-workers could describe you using three words, what would they be and why: Knowledgeable, perfectionist and happy. I’m known as the hub for information within the business, anyone can come and ask me a question and I can either give them the answer that they need, or I can at least point them in the right direction that they need to be to look for the answer.
Everything that I do, I like to do it right, and I will do things until I get it to the standard that I am happy with.
And generally I’m always in a good mood at work, I take everything in my stride and people can come and have a laugh with me and then we get on with our day.
What do you like to do to relax when you aren’t hard at work: When I’m not at work I enjoy doing a variety of things; going to the gym or exercise classes or swimming, spending time with my family, cooking and trying new recipes, reading (I’ve just started reading the “A Song of Ice & Fire” series after watching “Game of Thrones”), and watching television (my boyfriend and I have recently started watching “The Walking Dead” and we are completely hooked!)
