High Performance Secondary Glazing
Dating back to the 19th century, the primary function of original double hung sash windows was to reduce heat loss and provide noise insulation. While the objectives of modern day secondary glazing are the same, today's high performance, discrete designs are adding value and comfort while maintaining architectural integrity.
Secondary glazing involves the installation of new, fully independent secondary window frames on the room side of the existing or primary window. Our products are ideal to maintain the external facades of historic, period properties, especially those in conservation areas or those that are protected, even Grade One and Two listed buildings.
Custom built to fit and sympathetically installed, the key benefits of our secondary windows include:
- Higher thermal insulation - cost effective improvements to a property's energy efficiency rating making your home better insulated and saving you money on your fuel bills
- Improved acoustic insulation - secondary glazing protects against noise pollution from road traffic, aircraft and our 24 hour society
- Lower environmental impact - reduces a building's CO2 emissions
- Increased window security by providing a protective barrier against intruders
Secondary Glazing Range
Our range of Secondary Glazing comprises a slim aluminium outer frame joined to a seasoned hardwood surround, usually all finished in white, which allows for a neat, unobtrusive installation, even in the most difficult situations. A range of sub-frames and scribing trims are used to assist face fixing, reveal fixing and the coupling of units.
We provide a comprehensive range of styles to suit just about every application, including Horizontal Sliders, Hinged Units, Fixed and Lift-Out Units, Vertical Sliders, Balanced Vertical Sliders and Tilt-in Balanced Vertical Sliders. We can supply frames in white, silver or brown as standard and can accommodate any R.A.L. colour upon request to suit individual requirements. We can also provide a wide range of glass types such as clear, patterned, toughened, laminated and acoustic.
